July 4th

Leaving Helena behind - there are no fireworks displays here for the celebration of Independance Day! ? We are staying in Bozeman for 2 nights. Tammie leads us on a long walk into the middle of nowhere, as the trail she was after is closed to the public. Walking back into town, we treat ourselves to some Dairy Queen desserts.

The fireworks are not to be set off until 10:30 pm. We set ourselves up at the edge of the parking lot, a prime view of the light show. The fireworks display is preceeded by a local band playind some American Rock and Roll. People have on their top hats adorned with the stars and stripes And there is a young Paul Revere walking around the parking lot. There are fireworks going off in every direction, and by 10:30 we have seen almost 1.5 hours of fireworks already. Just as the first firework is set off, the wind and rain make a very forceful appearance, and force most of the crowd in the parking lot into their cars. It's a great show, and the enthusiasm of the crowd has not been dimished by the weather.
